Human Rights
Gurit is dedicated to upholding the human rights of everyone impacted by our operations and business activities, striving to prevent any negative human rights impact within our value chain. We’ve identified top-level human rights risks based on our materiality analysis, ESG ratings, and the specific risks tied to the regions where we operate.
Our human rights approach is fully aligned with leading international frameworks, including the United Nations Global Compact, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and the Core Labor Conventions of the International Labour Organization.
We provide regular human rights training for all employees and maintain an ongoing assessment of supply chain risks to uphold our commitment to respect and protect human rights across every aspect of our business.
Human Rights Due Diligence Framework
Gurit uses a Human Rights Due Diligence Framework to manage human rights risks across its operations and value chain, guided by international standards. The framework includes systematic risk assessments focused on vulnerable groups, prioritization of salient issues like forced labor and discrimination, and integration of human rights into policies, training, and processes. Implementation is tracked using KPIs, with grievance mechanisms enabling confidential reporting and independent investigations. The policy applies to employees, contractors, and partners, with compliance ensured through contracts and the Supplier Code of Conduct.
Managing Human Rights Risks in the Supply Chain
The Group procurement team manages a due diligence process to support responsible sourcing and global supply chain management of raw materials and services, aligning with international frameworks. Tools such as our Supplier Code of Conduct, Report-a-Concern process, General Terms and Conditions, supplier risk assessment and the Sedex platform underpin this process.
Supplier management via our category managers, as well as the Sedex platform, facilitates supplier risk assessments, helping us identify and address key supply chain risks while fostering stronger supplier engagement and promoting Gurit’s sustainability goals. This approach also ensures compliance with evolving ESG legislation, including Swiss corporate responsibility laws and upcoming climate-related disclosure requirements.
Supplier performance is evaluated annually across general information/KPIs, financials, and sustainability. Continuous assessment, regular communication and staff training ensures alignment with Gurit’s standards.
